habit shoes
As an exercise physiologist, I think I know a lot about shoes. I own a number of different types, and I have worn all of them (sometimes all of them together) at least a few times. I often wear them while running, walking, and bicycling. And if you’re a runner, I’ve worn them to help me stay more focused.
I wear them sometimes while running, walking, and bicycling. If youre a runner, Ive worn them to help me stay more focused.
When I first started running, I used to do what I thought was the “healthy” thing to do: wear a running shoe that was designed for walking. I was sure I would eventually get my running shoes right, that I would soon come around to the “normal” running shoe business. But when I started running, I found out that the “normal” running shoe business was one of those things that usually ends badly for new runners.
The way I learned this is by walking long, and the way I found that out, was by looking at the shoes in my closet. I would notice that the shoe had a specific way it was supposed to move, and I would think about how that was supposed to happen. Then one day, after I started running, I realized that the shoes were exactly the same shoes I had worn for walking.
That’s habit shoes. The idea is that the shoes are exactly the same, so you can wear them to the same exact spot on your feet and they’ll move exactly the way they’re supposed to. The problem is that the way they’re supposed to move is a bit different for each individual. Some of them are more like a running shoe, in that they’re designed to get you up and moving, while others are designed to take you down and make you run forever.
So I may not have been running at all. I may not have been running in a straight line. But the point is, I may have been running in any number of different ways. Or in fact, I may have just been walking in any number of different ways. The point is… I may have just been walking in the same way for an entire day.
The same way… is that the same way that any number of different ways could have been the same way. And that’s just what it would be like to be walking in the same way for an entire day without knowing it. For those wanting to walk in any number of different ways, try finding a running shoe that has a large heel. It sounds like a lot of work, but it’ll get you going.
So how much time have you been spending walking on your feet? If you say, “I walk about 20 minutes each day”, that’s about what I’ve been doing for the last year. In fact, that’s a pretty good standard for me.
If you’re like me, you probably think it’s pretty normal to just jump in the shower and rinse off and walk out all in the same pattern. But it’s not. Most of us are constantly taking in our environment or just running along. This causes pain points in our bodies and can lead to injuries. The best way to avoid this is to make sure your environment is as constant as possible.
In my case, I have a pair of shoes that I use for my morning walk that I wear every day. These are named habit shoes. As my day progresses, I slowly build up a habit of walking in these shoes. I do this after changing into a new pair of my own. I still have a pair of my old shoes that I wear to work, but its not part of my regular routine.
